Ms Dawn Clark - Psychological Therapist - online booking available

I work with adults and have a particular interest and skills in working with whatever problem you present with. There is a tendency currently in the therapy profession to provide diagnostic labels (generalised anxiety, trauma, depression, OCD, mental illnessetc.) which is helpful in guiding the work, and I am trained to work with these. In the end most of what we are all struggling with is concerned with relationships (with yourself and/or others), day to day living, achieving cherished goals or deciding how you would like to live.

I'm a trustee of a charity for adult survivors of childhood abuse (my previous surname of MILLER)

Working with you as you are

My therapy models, training and practice (CBT, integrative, psychodynamic) are based on the most up to date research evidence and theories. My training is informed by an integration of psychology and counselling. However, I will particularly work with you as the unique person you are; promote and encourage your strengths, health, wellbeing and help you reach your goals. If you would like to focus on the past we can do so. Equally we can work with the here and now or a combination of these.

Your experiences

I also have an interest in working with childhood difficulties and abuse; with those who lack hope, are stuck or who have had had previous unhelpful therapy experiences. If you approach me about a problem I think someone else would be more suitable to help you with, I will signpost you on.

Settings worked in

I have worked in the NHS in:occupational health (for staff with personal or work problems); community mental health (people in crisis, self harm); psychotherapy departments(moderate to severe mental health problems, childhood neglect & abuse, relationship difficulties); GP surgeries (panic, OCD, health anxiety, generalized anxiety, specific phobia, social phobia, PTSD, depression, addiction); clinical health (psychological difficulties due to physical healthproblems such as diabetes, MS, cancer or ME). I have also carried out similar work in charity settings and currently in the private sector.

Ways of working

I have the flexibility to tailor the work to your needs and timetable so can offer weekly face to face sessions, SKYPE, guided self help, recommendation of self help materials to enable you to work alone or on line counselling.
