The Sherwood Institute Supervision Diploma Course
This course provides training for people who wish to become professional clinical supervisors in counselling, psychotherapy or the helping professions, within the voluntary, public or private sector. It leads to a Diploma in Supervision from Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute.
The course is run by the Sherwood Institute, at Life Story Therapeutic Centre in Reading. It is a one-year part-time course consisting of nine two-day modules spread over a nine-month period.
To apply, you should have one or more of the following:
- an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy qualification
- a degree, or an equivalent professional qualification
- a supervisory role within the helping professions
The course is designed to build on skills and experience that you have already developed before you attend the course. It emphasises the ability to hold an interview of processes and people, so that they can be helped to fulfil their role and task more effectively. It is taught using both didactic and experimental methods, and draws upon the shared knowledge and experience of all participants.
