I am a member of the BACP and bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means high standards, personal therapy, clinical supervision and continuous personal development.
I have been seeing clients at a local centre since 2002, working with both adults and young people. I also have experience in school counselling and leading personal development courses for adolescents at college. I have a Diploma in Integrative Psychosynthesis. This enables me to approach your situation in different ways depending on what would be most effective for your unique situation. My approach is holistic, recognising that we are all comprised of emotion, body, mind, soul and spirit. Integrative Psychosynthesis utilises theory and practice from Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Jungian, Humanistic and Transpersonal approaches. This includes the possibility of working creatively through guided imagery, visualisations, role-play, body awareness and dreams.
My background is in Careers Guidance and I have 9 years experience and a Masters degree in this. My first degree was in Behavioural Sciences - a combination of psychology and sociology. Over my working career my experience has been in the private sector (Accountancy), and in the public sector through schools and college work.
Having lived in two different Caribbean countries and the U.K. I am keen to work with individuals from all different backgrounds and across the various social divides in our world. I enjoy film, theatre, music, dance, art, photography, good food, walking and reading. I look forward to meeting you.
